Fostering Pets When Pet Parents Are Deployed

Fostering pets for America's military pet parents offers great peace of mind while they are deployed
Fostering pets for America’s military pet parents offers great peace of mind while they are deployed.

We have all seen the wonderful videos and photographs of  a dog  ( or cat) greeting a pet parent after they’ve been away on deployment and finally returned home.

It’s a wonderful visual that truly enhances the human-animal bond.

Many members of the armed forces are faced with the dilemma of what to do with their pets when they report for duty. Dogs On Deployment is a 501(c)(3) national non-profit which provides an online network for service members to search for volunteers who are willing to board their pets during their owner’s service commitments. Dogs on Deployment promotes responsible, life-long pet ownership by military pet owners by advocating for military pet owner rights, providing educational resources and granting financial assistance for military pet owners during times of emergency. Despite their name, the organization takes care of ALL military pets and that includes cats, birds and critters too.Founded in 2011, the orgnisation has helped look after hundred of pets while their pet parents have been deployed.

To help this wonderful organization Purina has initiated an on-line trivia game. The company will donate 25 cents for every correct answer with a total donation of $40 000 . All you have to do is click and play. And it sa great way of testing your basic dog and cat knowledge too.

This post was sponsored by the Nestle Purina PetCare Company. However, all opinions are my own. I only write about topics, events and products that I consider readers will consider useful information and relevant to their interests.

tip of the day

If you are taking a road trip with your dog, it’s a great idea to add temporary ID tags to his collar giving information about your en route locations over and above your home address. You can use paper tags from an stationery store or there is something new on the market called Twigo tags. Google them!
