So many dogs suffer from an itchy skin.

In an effort to educate pet owners about the importance of treating allergic skin conditions in dogs, animal health company Zoetis in partnership with American Humane  teamed up with veterinarian Dr. Jeff Werber to develop an “Itch Instinct” quiz for pet owners. Many don’t know that left untreated, allergies can lead to more serious problems, including infection.

But here’s the good part, apart from learning about your dog’s personal skin condition, the completion of the “Itch Instinct” quiz will trigger an automatic donation made by Zoetis to expand the number of recipients in its K-9 Courage™ Program, which provides healthcare assistance to retired military and active police dogs as well as active service dogs that assist veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress.

You can take  the quiz on

So it’s a win-win.

Distraction toys such as a Kong can provide additional hours of fun if you stuff it with Ultramix sweet potato or pumpkin puree and freeze the toy until the puree is solid. Be sure to give the stuffed Kong to your dog outside or somewhere where you won’t mind cleaning up the mess – if he doesn’t lick up everything for you! Peanut butter is another great option.
