It’s important to teach young children how to interact with pet. Here are some simple rules to help.

Cats and dogs are not toys.

Teach children how to read body language that indicates, annoyance, anger or fear.

Children must learn to recognize when the cat or dog has had enough and wants to be left alone.

Never hold a cat or dog against her will or corner her.

Never bother a cat or dog when it’s sleeping, eating or, on doing its business outside or in the litter box.
