Dr. Jane Goodall, DBE and HRH Princess Alia join IFAW honorary board

The International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) announced the appointment of Dr. Jane Goodall, DBE and HRH Princess Alia of Jordan to its Honorary Board of Directors.

Dr. Goodall is Founder of the Jane Goodall Institute and a UN Messenger of Peace. She frequently collaborates with IFAW, most recently joining to support the proposed U.S. ivory regulations.

“I like working with IFAW, because it’s an organization with compassion and heart that cares about the welfare of individual animals as well as conservation of species. Their work exemplifies my longtime credo ‘every individual matters, every individual makes a difference,'” said Dr. Goodall.

IFAW CEO Azzedine Downes added, “Jane’s lifelong commitment to protecting wildlife is an inspiration to so many, and she has built a tremendous organization. We have collaborated with her through IFAW’s Animal Action Education program and the Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots, a global program for young people of all ages, and we stand together advocating the protection of elephants from ivory poachers. We are honored to welcome her to our honorary board.”

HRH Princess Alia Al Hussein of Jordan, the daughter of the late King Hussein of Jordan and Sharifa Dina bint ‘Abdu’l-Hamid, is the founder of the Princess Alia Foundation, a non-governmental organization that “works to promote the balance, harmony and respect for all creation.”

“IFAW’s animal welfare principles and effective hands-on work in diverse communities align perfectly with the Princess Alia Foundation’s motto,” said Princess Alia.

Princess Alia has partnered with IFAW to bring our Animal Action Education program to children throughout Jordan and to rescue wildlife from illegal trade.

“IFAW is very grateful when we connect with people like Princess Alia who share our values and commitment to creating a world where animals are respected and protected. Animal well-being and human well-being are connected. Princess Alia understands that together we can build a better world for animals and people. We are delighted to have her on our honorary board,” said Mr. Downes.

HRH Princess Alia and Dr. Goodall join IFAW’s other honorary board members: Keely Shaye Brosnan, Pierce Brosnan, Leonardo DiCaprio, Manu Chandaria, Christopher Matthews, Harold Prince, Ben Stein, Amber Valletta and Goran Visnjic.
