Outward Hound Fun Feeder

There is no question that many dogs simply vacuum up their meals without ever using a taste bud. Hasty eating can in fact lead to digestion disorders such as bloat and food regurgitation.

Tester Dani got to try out the Outward Hound Fun Feeder in the  Flower design, which is designed to slow down the rate a dog eats.

According to the manufacturers, the bowls, that come in various designs and two sizes, are inspired by nature to make feeding fun and stimulate dogs by encouraging them to chase and forage for their food. Further, they quickly learn to “chase” their food through the maze of ridges and valleys, making dinnertime feel more like a hunt.

For the Reigning Cats and Dogs Blog test, Dani’s dad gave her her evening meal in an ordinary bowl and timed her. She’d eaten every last crumb in 3 minutes 10 seconds.

The next time she meal was placed in the Flower Fun Feeder, and dinner time lasted 10 minutes.

If you have a dog that eats too quickly, this is a Must Have Product. It can also be cleaned on the top shelf of the dishwasher and is both BPA and PVC free.

Product tester for this product is Dani.

The Outward Hound Fun Feeders get the Must Have Stamp of Approval.

Distraction toys such as a Kong can provide additional hours of fun if you stuff it with Ultramix sweet potato or pumpkin puree and freeze the toy until the puree is solid. Be sure to give the stuffed Kong to your dog outside or somewhere where you won’t mind cleaning up the mess – if he doesn’t lick up everything for you! Peanut butter is another great option. The Must Have Stamp of Approval is based on my personal opinion and the test experiences of the Reigning Cats and Dogs product testers as well as my personal knowledge of the product category. The Must Have Stamp of Approval is designed to advise pet parents on products that will in some way improve their pet’s health and well being, or, their own experiences as a pet parent. Manufacturers are welcome to submit information and samples of new and innovative products for testing. The product testing team consists of dogs and cats of different temperaments and activity levels etc in an attempt to cover a lot of bases and produce worthwhile reviews. The team loves what they do and get to keep the products so they can show off to their friends and further spread the word.
